OUR FOUNDERS STORY

Hauwa Adamu Kakudi is the founder of Save a life cancer awareness and support network. Her passion for establishing the NGO came out of her experience as a breast cancer survivor. She is currently a 6-year Breast Cancer Survivor, and her mission is to raise much-needed awareness so that more women can have the chance to tell their stories of survival in other to give hope to women suffering from the disease. She gives hope to women by sharing her stories and when women look at her they indeed believe that cancer is not a death sentence and this gives them hope.

In 2020 a joint collaboration was made between her organization and Community Health & Research Initiative where the first Cancer Support Trust Fund was established in Kano

Hauwa has contributed a lot to the health sector by contributing to the numerous health projects in Kano state.

She led her team to present the organization’s cancer care recommendation to the Kano State Health Transition committee for onward delivery to the Govonroe elect Engr. Kabir Abba Yiusuf.

She has been selected by the Special Adviser to Kano State Governor on Health Matters to advocate for Gender Base Violence, Drug Abuse, and Mental Issues on behalf of women in Kano State.

She is part of the advocacy team in Kano state for accountability and transparency on Government spending in the health sector as well as ensuring the implementation of universal health coverage for cancer patients,

Hauwa is also part of the advocacy group for Nigeria’s Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, Adolescent and Elderly Health Plus Nutrition (RMNCAEH+N) COVID-19 recovery plan from 2020-2022 KANO State Chapter.

During the World Universal Health Coverage Day in 2021, she spearheaded the team and provided step-down training on UNIVERSAL HEALTH COVERAGE in collaboration with the Kano State Coalition of the Joint Learning Agenda on Universal Health to 20 CSOs/Journalist in Kano state and also conducted awareness via media to an estimated 5000 radio listeners and 1000 TV Viewers.

She is currently the State coordinator of the NYSC Arm your youth (ArOY) Campaign which is a program that creates awareness among youth coppers on the importance of early diagnosis and screening of breast and cervical cancer in Nigeria and is sponsored by the OCI Foundation

HAUWA ADAMU KAKUDI wears many caps as she is a Relationship Manager with Guaranty Trust Bank (GTCO) with over 15 years of banking experience. She is a member of the chartered institute of Banking and Finance, the Chattered Institute Of Bankers, a Certified Management Consultant, a Fellow of The Institute Of Management Consultants, and a Certified Time Management Specialist From London Graduate.
